What is the difference between Epson and Hawaii sea salt

Hawaiian sea salt and Epsom salts benefit specific skin and neuromuscular conditions when applied externally through climatotherapy and saltwater soaks. Both types of salts provide nourishing elements which absorb through the skin

The rinsing of the Hawaiian sea salt through the pourous Hawaiian lava rocks dissolves mineral sea salts and releases these salts into the water during a process called weatherization. Hawaiian volcanic activity contributes sulfur, chlorine and lava compounds to natural water sources in some areas. The evaporation of ocean waters yields pure Hawaiian natural mineral sea salts. Epsom salts contain high levels of magnesium and sulfates, whereas Hawaiian sea salts contain high levels of magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride, sodium and bromide.

Hawaiian sea salts and Epsom salts provide nutritive elements through absorption by the skin. Homes and hospitals also use Hawaiian sea salt and Epsom salt baths in the treatment of skin and muscular conditions.

What is Hawaiian Sea Salt

Hawaiian sea salt, which is created by evaporating Hawaiian sea water, typically involves little or no processing and contains no anti-clumping additives, unlike table salt. Whether coarse or finely ground, it contains more minerals than other salts because it comes from the sea here in Hawaii. The additional minerals in Hawaii sea salt contribute to its color and flavor. Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits, and kosher salt is derived from either seawater or underground sources.

Although the composition of all salt types is 60 percent chloride and 40 percent sodium, the overall mineral content of salt can vary. Making Hawaiian Sea Salt

Kona Sea Salt on the big island of Hawaii explains the making of their Hawaiian sea salt:

Kona Sea SaltTM is entirely hand tended, from the moment our deep seawater arrives on-site, until your order of this unique, gourmet sea salt is delivered to your door step.
The salt is hand-harvested after our unique deep seawater naturally evaporates, in about three weeks. Unhurried evaporation within our closed drying system under the bright Hawaiian sun provides ideal conditions for the characteristic, pure white Kona Sea SaltTM crystals to form. They are gently scooped into buckets, and wheeled to covered wooden hoppers; here, any remaining moisture drains from the salt. This liquid is a concentrated brine called nigari*, or bitterns, and we collect it at this time.
Our salt is hand-cleaned with forceps and patience to exacting standards, then packed into 10kg bags for wholesale.
Kona Sea SaltTM destined for our retail product line is oven-dried on site in accordance with State of Hawaii health requirements, then hand-packaged, hand-labeled, and readied for shipping.
